UNC Field Hockey National Champions!!!

WOW. just wow. I guess the title pretty much speaks for itself. UNC defeated Maryland to take the Grand prize to their more than proud UNC family. They are the National Champions!!

Heels vs. Wolfpack

Carolina football has been thriving these past few weeks...until yesterday. I'm sure you were all at home on Saturday watching the game. I SURE WAS! and I can't believe we lost by one point. Like really? Leading 24-14 at the half, and then they (you know who "they" are.) come back to win it???!!! Can you say, Speechless? yes. yes indeed. Come on Heels! Don't lose the momentum now after finally being ranked again!

RENT, time well spent.

So last weekend I went to see the play Rent outdoors at Forest Theater which was put on by some of UNC's finest and most talented students. It was simply amazing. The acting was great and the singing was lovely. My friend and I enjoyed every minute of it! I have never seen the original play Rent but after watching them put it on, I would love to see it. The story line was great and just seeing their emotion and how they got into their character really appeals to the audience. I can definitely say my time was well spent when watching this play!
Video coming soon.

SRC or Rams?

I love working out because it's a big time stress reliever- which I have definitely needed here lately! I used to go the SRC (student recreation center) all the time but I've recently been going to Rams gym instead. I like Rams a lot better. They have an indoor track, better space, cleaner, and not to mention they have always had towels when I've been in. The SRC always runs out of towels.

New Basketball Ticket policy

I can't really say that I completely like the new ticket policy because the first game I went to, I went by myself. YEA. alone. It was actually paretty boring. I understand that there is the stand-by line and turn it back but it's much more convenient to get a ticket emailed to you. But if the students really wanted to get a ticket, they can try one of those two options. A lot of the students are complaining saying that attendance is still low at the basketball games, and most students don't go because they have no one to go with. The phases may be different or they just may not get a ticket. Some students are too lazy to go at a certain time to the Union box office or stand in the stand-by line, however you gotta do whatcha gotta do for those tarheels. :)

Tarheel Basketball answering the call?

So a lot of "people" have been comparing the present Carolina boy's basketball team to last year's team (which is expected). We were national champions last year and many question if our team is good enough to do it again this year. Do you guys think the team can do it? I sure do! Go Heels!!!

Tuition Hike? Yikes!

If you all have been reading the Daily Tarheel, there will most likely be an increase in tuition for the next school year, as for how much it will be- that's still up in the air. However, Chancellor Holden Thorp has decided on the lower of the two increases which includes $200 for in-state students and out-of-state students, and $731. 98 for graduate students. More students have started to speak out about the increase in tuition, however nothing is final. But there is no avoiding that there will definitely be some type of increase. To read more on this story go to the Daily Tarheel Website.

Rain overload.

This week has been ridiculous with all the rain and walking to class... I got splashed 2 days in a row by cars. AND my umbrella flew out of my hand too many times to count. Typical freshman? yes.

Zumba!!!

So I tried my first class of Zumba this week and it was SO much fun. I was shaking parts of my body I've never shaken before. You really don't even realize you're working out!!! If you guys would like to go to a class, go to this site http://campusrec.unc.edu/fitness/group_exercise.html and it will give you a detailed schedule of when and where the Zumba classes are offered. I highly recommend you try this- it's a great way to relieve stress!

Want the scoop on Anoop? Read ahead.

The Anoop Desai concert was AMAZING! and guess who had front row seats? Yep, I sure did. :D Knowing that he is an alumni of Carolina made it so much more personal. I have to say I enjoyed this concert more than I did the Fabolous concert. I could actually understand the words he were singing and they were songs I either knew or at least heard before. It was great! (feel the excitement?)
Check out his shoes.. haha

Homecoming Part 1!

Homecoming week/weekend was amazing!!! To kick it off, I went to the Fabolous concert. I don't know how many of you know him because a lot of people didn't. HOWEVER, it was still a great experience knowing some of the songs he sings! There wasn't a huge turn out like I expected because there were seats empty all over. It was a great start to Homecoming!
Me and friends after the concert. :D

Halloween on Franklin street...is crazy!!

On October 31st, 2009, around 50,000 people came out to Franklin street on Halloween night to enjoy this annual tradition. I must say, this will go down in my book of memories. I mean how many people do you know who gets to take a picture with Michael Jackson personally??!! Yep. you read it right. I took a picture with Michael Jackson. Don't believe me? Here's the picture to prove it.

Did I mention Obama too? Indeed. The president even joined in the fun on Franklin street. I couldn't get a picture with just him because his body guards were surrounding him like blueberries in a pancake.

This was my family on Halloween night. We are the most disfunctional family ever. But I love them...even my annoying sister... :D and my daddy too, even though he is a caveman and one of the ugliest people alive.
