Climbing Mountains for a Better View

For some, giving up is simply not an option. We all make mistakes and the only thing we can really do is learn from them and move on. Project Homeless was an event that recently took place for those who are homeless, in danger of being homeless, or just need an extra push of encouragement to better their current circumstances. One woman's story in particular stuck out to me in the article. Toomes dropped out in seventh grade and is currently living at the Freedom House- "a recovery center for drug and alcohol abusers." After dropping out and meeting her second husband, she turned to cocaine and alcohol for comfort. She stated she was "tired of acting like a little kid." After realizing her life was going nowhere, she wanted to make a change and better herself. Toomes is now working to get her GED and a place of her own. She is living proof that it is possible to not let your past define your future.

  1. This is a great story!! I am glad that she got her life together. Alcohol and Drugs and destroy people's lives and families. Always no matter what people should not let their past determine their future. I know I didn't!!
