Are the Greeks weak?

The Greek system on the UNC campus is looking to improve its latest downfalls with their newest members. However, the rocky relationship has always been there, it's just now beginning to be revealed more publicly. The UNC administration has finally decided to take action as a result of the Aug. 23rd death of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity president after a party at one of the fraternity houses. Alcohol abuse and drinking became a topic of discussion, and the University has launched an investigation in order to crack down on the Greek system. Underage drinking is getting out of control. Students are going to do it regardless, but there should be some stopping point, or at least a decrease in the amount of cases associated with underage drinking and alcoholic deaths. Sure, this is a worldwide issue. But UNC is the topic right now. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. Enough said.

  1. I liked your point about the "elephant in the room" because underaged drinking has been going on forever at frat parties It seems like it took the death of the DKE president to shake things up. Now the university has decided to take action because things got so out of control at the DKE rush event where there was supposed to be no alcohol.

  2. Yea, I just don't get it. Who's to say this could've been prevented if action was taken sooner? We are left to ponder on that but in reality there is no going back and changing anything now. What's done is done; all we can do now is hope that the University REALLY takes action this time.
